Growth is intentional. Yes! Growing up in the Lord is a thing that is born of the condition of the heart. Not spiritual gifts or casting out of devils; intentional fruitage in the yeaning of the good of God or fruitage of the Spirit. Where one can and would not just want to go out and manifest the things and abilities of God, but where one is a candle in the open and all men can see the good and the Patience and the love of God through one openly. It is not about the clothes you wear or the things you own; but the aperture of your goodwill spreading like it did through Christ. He had nothing of earthly value like a house or donkey let alone a horse, nor did he have pretty boy looks. He was that the good of God oozing through a spirited man. Without captivating looks or glorious garments He did sit before Zacchaeus and Zacchaeus even as a lifted man due to the line and height of men whom he lived and walked among did have to look down to Him to see the true condition of a perfect and loving heart. He that was without a hole or nest to lay His head He did change there the direction of the life of a publican by just coming in to his house and leaning over his condition to reach at his heart. Isaiah 53:1-3 KJV Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Matthew 8:19-20 KJV And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Luke 9:57-62 KJV And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. The loosing and let going of the matters of a former life do enable us to do voluntarily give ourselves to the life found in Him as one can tell in the words He said to the two men who wanted to follow Him. He did tell the scribe I have nothing to support you and former trade, and even to the man who his father was late, He did desire him to instantly let go of his past and focus on the yeaning future as it happens. He without many material things did go through the isles of Israel did awaken many who slumbered in the places of rejection. The selfless good, that good did draw even those who were openly selling themselves in public and those who took tax for a foreign nation against their own. It was not signs or wonders that did pull Zacchaeus to Christ; it was not much words matters but the growth in Him. The ideal that He would enter in to an obviously cankered man's house and sit at his table and share a moment of listening and being listened to. It means Zacchaeus could tell He was being listened to, to on a flat ground let out what was within him. So He rose without being preached to, but by seeing who Christ indeed was, did he do deliberate self to the course of God again.
