Together, they face treacherous terrain, mercenaries, and shadowy forces racing to seize forbidden power.
Despite the urgency and peril, an unexpected bond grows between them. Sabine admires Aura's skill and courage, even as she struggles to comprehend her otherworldly abilities. Aura, carrying the weight of knowledge and responsibility, finds in Sabine both a partner and a mirror— someone who can understand, even if only in part, what it means to live between times. Their alliance becomes both practical and profoundly personal, culminating in moments of tenderness and passion amid the chaos of war and history in flux.
As they uncover the secrets of the gate and its activation, the boundaries between past, present, and future begin to blur. Aura realises she must make impossible choices: protect history, preserve lives, and accept that while she can return to her own time, she can never return unchanged— nor can she ever come back for Sabine.
