Prince Leorion refuses to mourn a man he believes still lives. Determined to reclaim the man who once guarded his life more fiercely than his own, Leorion investigates the vampire ambush and uncovers traces of power no human should possess. The rumors he once dismissed tighten around him—unnatural strength, crimson glimmers in the dark, a commander who returned from death changed. Loyalty slowly twists into a quiet, aching obsession he cannot bring himself to name.
Draven, meanwhile, struggles to suppress the hunger coiled beneath his skin. The bite that should have turned him into a monster instead binds him closer to Leorion, drawing him toward the prince's blood with terrifying intensity. He keeps his distance, avoids touch, and buries every flicker of desire beneath rigid discipline, yet the bond only deepens. Leorion's presence sharpens his senses; his heartbeat becomes an anchor Draven can feel no matter where he stands. He convinces himself that remaining near the prince is selfish, yet leaving would be unbearable. To protect Leorion, he builds walls of silence—walls that only make the prince reach for him harder.
When the Vampire King resurfaces, his attention fixed on the "half-turned heir" who should never have resisted transformation, Draven's secret begins to fracture. Shadows follow Leorion's steps, crises ignite along the border, and the prince senses that Draven is fighting an enemy closer than any army: himself. Their unspoken connection sharpens into something fragile and forbidden, simmering beneath stolen glances and moments that linger too close to confession. Leorion begins to suspect the truth, but every attempt to confront Draven ends in retreat—until a royal summons drags the commander into the light.
Accused of treason after killing a soldier who threatened exposure, Draven is seized by the council and bound in ancient chains meant for creatures of the night. During the interrogation ritual, the truth the kingdom fears is revealed: when asked if he intends harm to the prince, the chains remain still; when asked if he loves him, they blaze with red light. Leorion breaks through the guards, refusing to let the council turn Draven into an enemy. But the bond between them spirals beyond control, and the prince's nearness triggers violent surges in Draven's blood—signs of a transformation he can no longer suppress.
When chaos erupts within the prisons, Draven's restraint finally shatters. Terrified he will harm the man he loves, he flees into the night. Leorion follows through fire and ruin, calling his name with a desperation that nearly stops Draven's heart. Yet Draven knows that if he stays, the prince will die. For the first time, he speaks a lie meant to save him: Forget me.
But Leorion does not forget. As Draven vanishes into shadow, the Bloodbound snaps taut, leaving the prince gasping as though half his soul has been torn away. The book ends with Leorion standing alone beneath the moon, vowing softly into the wind, "Wherever you run, I will follow," while deep within the vampire dominion, Draven stumbles onward, knowing the truth he can no longer deny—that loving Leorion is destroying him, yet living without him would be far worse.
