Let me tell you something about timing. Folks always talking about being on time like it's the only way to show up right. You hear it all the time, "Early bird gets the worm," but ain't nobody talking about the bird who got there a little late, took their time, and still ended up flying higher than all the rest. You ain't gotta follow everybody else's clock to win. The world may want you to move a certain way, make you feel like you're behind if you ain't moving fast enough, but the truth is, sometimes being "late" is the best move you can make. Think about it. How many times you rushed somewhere, trying to meet someone else's deadline, just to get there and find out it wasn't even worth it? Or worse, you got there, and the timing wasn't right for you anyway? You show up, you try to fit in, and everybody's looking at you sideways, like, "What you doing here?" when really, you should've come when you were ready. Ain't nothing wrong with being late if you're moving at the speed that works for you. And don't get me wrong, I ain't saying sit around forever, waiting for the perfect moment, but if you know yourself, you know when it's your time to make your move. Life is full of folks trying to rush you—trying to tell you what you need to do and when you need to do it. Everybody's got an opinion on how you should be living, and if you ain't careful, you'll find yourself dancing to a rhythm that ain't even yours. You know, like somebody else turned on the music, but you're the one out here breaking a sweat. But let me tell you, there's power in slowing down and moving on your own beat. Take your time and arrive when you're good and ready. You might not be the first to show up, but when you do, you'll be the one folks can't stop talking about. You'll be the one who walked in with a whole different kind of energy, the one they didn't see coming, but they know you belong. That's the thing about being "late"—when you walk in like you own the place, time don't matter no more. We live in a world where everybody's chasing something. Chasing fame, chasing money, chasing recognition—like if they ain't running, they ain't doing enough. And people love to act like they've got it all figured out because they're ahead in some imaginary race. They might've jumped the gun and sprinted out the gate, but what good is it if they burn out before they even cross the finish line? You might be jogging while they're running full speed, but you still gonna catch up when it counts. You might even pass them up, fresh and ready to go when they're too tired to keep up. Now, I ain't saying you ain't gotta work for it. I ain't telling you to be lazy or sit around waiting for success to knock on your door. Nah, you gotta grind. But grind on your terms. Grind when it feels right for you. There's a big difference between working because you're inspired and working because you feel like you're behind. Ain't no joy in feeling like you're always chasing something, like if you don't catch it right now, it's gone forever. Look at some of the greats. Folks who didn't "arrive" when the world thought they should. Maybe they didn't pop off right away, didn't hit their stride in their 20s or even their 30s. They showed up late to the party, but when they got there, they changed the game. You got people like Oprah, who wasn't sitting at the top of the world in her 20s. She was working, she was hustling, but she didn't really hit that next level until later. And when she did? Couldn't nobody touch her. Then there's people like Samuel L. Jackson, who didn't become a household name until he was well into his 40s. He wasn't out here trying to rush the process, wasn't out here trying to be a star right out the gate. He took his time, honed his craft, and when his moment came, he was more than ready.
