Each night, the fireflies grow fewer. The spring begins to dim. Children in the village forget her name. Even the priest stumbles over his morning blessings. The world seems to be forgetting Lila—and with her, something sacred is unraveling.
Then, one evening, a single firefly returns—brighter than the rest, pulsing like a question. It leads them into the forest, where the veil between worlds thins. There, they meet Kalina: spirit-weaver, babaylan, and their mother's grandmother.
She tells them the truth.
Lila did not leave them by choice. She was dying. When the spirits called her to Tanglaw, the realm where remembered souls cross in peace, she refused. She could not bear to abandon her daughters, so she bound herself to the spring, hoping memory would anchor her. But now, the sacred land is under threat. The developers come with maps and blades. The fireflies vanish. The bridge to Tanglaw falters.
If the spring is erased, Lila will not pass on—she will vanish.
And the spirit world will lose more than one soul.
In the growing dark, a creature stirs. The Tiktik, with eyes like blood and wings that never touch the ground, hunts the fading. It feeds on forgotten names and broken songs. Elsewhere, a Tikbalang watches in silence, waiting for someone who remembers the old ways.
With only each other, a fading guardian, and the help of friends who half-believe—Elmer the quiet musician, Kata the grieving skeptic, and Ramon, who carries a message he doesn't understand—Mayi and Sinta must unravel the threads of myth before they break completely.
This is a story of spirit huts and river stones.
