In the early 1900s, in a small traditional Western town, Elias Carter is born into a world of hardship. His family, struggling farmers in Willow Creek, live under the weight of poverty and the rigid structures of society. From a young age, Elias is not like the other children—his mind questions everything. He sees the silent struggles of the working class, the invisible chains of the system, and the subtle ways in which power is wielded over those who have none.
Elias's grandfather, an aging but wise man, recognizes his grandson's sharp intellect and restless curiosity. Instead of encouraging him to simply accept his fate as a farmer, he introduces Elias to books, knowledge, and the power of thought.
