She'd also been strong enough to rediscover herself after her divorce, and now she was a proud business owner, running her very successful flower shop. Plus, she'd managed to become only half a mess when her only child had finally gone off to college, turning the page on yet another new chapter in Pepper's life, one which she'd found herself eager to start.

Though life had come with some challenges, Josiah Austin still believed that all things were possible if you just didn't lose hope. Though he lived with too many regrets to count, he still had plenty of things to be grateful for, his parents being on top of that list. So, when it came down to what truly mattered, things could definitely be worse, and he knew it.
He'd also been fortunate enough to make it home alive, given how many times he'd been deployed overseas, a career that he'd dedicated his entire life to. When Pepper is attacked one night, Josiah does what any decent human being would do, and that's to save her from a fate much worse than just a few scrapes and bruises. Still, neither of them expects the chance encounter to change their lives forever, which it definitely does.
