It's been a thousand years since the apocalyptic events of Brimstone, the day nuclear bombs rained down from the sky and destroyed the world. Hydra Lily is an ordinary seventeen-year-old girl who attends Advanced Academy, and has an extraordinary problem—her best friend Onyx Tomas, and rival newcomer Thermos Agate are competing for her attention. Who will win Hydra's heart? Onyx, the ruggedly handsome bad boy with a lean muscular figure and a penchant for adventure, or Thermos, the cute, sweet, shy guy who just needs a nudge and prod to come out of his shell?
Hydra and her friends embark on a perilous journey to search for a rare metal that is vital to the colony's survival. Threats lurk behind every corner as these young heroes discover friendship, love, and romance along the way. Ferocious beasts, from the toadicus monsters that inhabit the swamps, to giant tardigrades, and a lair of mutant spiruses, pose dangerous obstacles that threaten to see them eaten alive.
However, all is not as it seems, and an explosive revelation and twist of fate leads to a life and death situation. Trapped, with nowhere to turn, will Hydra and her friends be forced to return home, and face the Enclave's wrath? Or will help come from the most unexpected source, setting in motion new plots that reveal shocking truths, and take them to faraway lands to discover new, never before seen creatures, new whirlwind romances, and what little remains of the world that once was? Two direct sequel trilogies called the Silica Agate series, and the Aqua Regia series, follow the same characters through new adventures years in the future.
