Descrizione

This is a tale about Brian Medway, a man who loves three women: Zena is incredibly beautiful; Anita is incredibly homeless; and Darla is incredibly rich. Which one will he choose? I met Zena quite by chance—we had been standing next to each other in a long slow-moving line at a coffee shop on a rainy Saturday morning when she struck up a conversation with me. After we had our coffees (espresso, always espresso, in Zena's case), we sat at a table together, and in between my coffee and her two espressos, we had an interesting conversation. I was, of course, immediately swept into Zena's orbit—it's really hard to authentically describe the power that an incredibly beautiful woman can have on some men, and I was certainly one of those men. To me, Zena was hypnotically beautiful. It wasn't so much her body even—although as I've said, her body was about as beautiful as beautiful can be. But more than that, she had such an exquisite face, so lovely and divine and captivating. And then there were her dark expressive eyes, which would inevitably draw me down into their pools of sensuality. Because, regardless of how I tried to resist the temptation that she presented, there was no doubt that her face, her lips, her dusky, alluring voice, and her magnetic, mesmerizing eyes conveyed an obvious physical passion and sensuality that would wash over me like a tidal wave whenever I was around her. I had been thinking of getting back into the bar scene and hooking up with someone there, but now, for the first time in my life, I began to consider whether Anita would be a good woman for me. It was a wild thought, and I tried to put it out of my mind. I really don't even like to say this, but I couldn't help thinking that she was like the dregs. She had no money at all, wore ill-fitting, second hand clothes, and because of her lifestyle, she wasn't able to keep up her appearance. It was almost like she was an orphan, and it was very, very difficult for me to take her seriously as a sexual partner. In fact, it was almost laughable. I know everybody is probably judging me and thinking that I'm some kind of snob. But let's get serious and face reality. If you were a single man or woman living a respectable life, do you mean to honestly tell me that you'd search for your sexual partner among the homeless? And if you were tempted to do so and talked to a psychiatrist about it, I'm sure the psychiatrist would tell you that you were suffering from (very) low self-esteem. So before you judge me, please place yourself in my shoes. I didn't know what to say to Darla because it was difficult for me to imagine that a woman of such fabulous wealth would really want to form a sexual relationship with a guy like me. "OK, Darla, let's say that you invited a group of your friends over to your house, and I was there and…it was like I was your boyfriend. And there I am in my jeans, and maybe I've just come over to your house on the bike that I sometimes use for courier work. What's everybody going to think? It'll be like I'm your pet poodle or something—just some cheap knickknack that you picked up along the way." However, despite Brian's doubts, Darla seems to have become fascinated with him, and shortly after their first date, she invites him into her bedroom for a wild and passionate night. But still, the enormous difference in their bank accounts, as well as Zena's jealousy, lead to some very unexpected events that bring Brian back to a question that he has been avoiding for a long time: Which woman will he choose?
