However, in the 1970s and 1980s, the industry was hit by a series of recessions and the emergence of Japanese car makers. This led to the decline of many British car makers and the rise of Japanese car makers such as Honda and Toyota. Today, the British car industry is still going strong. There are a number of British car makers, such as Jaguar, Land Rover, and Mini, still producing cars for the British market.
