Descrizione When thirty-something year old musician Catherine Alexander-Blair, Cat, wakes to find herself in the hands of an eight-hundred year old vampire, everything she took for truth, everything she believed of the world is suddenly called into question. In what feels to her like the blink of an eye she’s propelled into a fantastic and impossible reality. Abducted while in a coma from a Lake Charles, Louisiana hospital, Cat’s disappearance briefly made newspapers and television news casts. Searches were made of the city, surrounding areas, even the bayous, though no trace was found. Eventually, her missing person case went cold and was re-filed under ‘missing, presumed dead’. Headstrong and fiercely independent, Cat finds the constraints of Sin’s demands often unbearable, to the point of defying him outright. Punishment for such defiance proves to be painful, but her own blossoming magical powers come to her aid. The passion the two share becomes a force, and when Cat’s powers cause the vampire community to distrust her, she is subjected to tests and arcane rituals to ascertain the origins of her magic. Faced with the all but impossible task of proving her loyalty, she is forced to trust the Master Vampire, rely on her instincts, and use her courage to survive. Sin’s world is unfortunately no safer for Cat than the world from which she was rescued. At first fearful of Sin, her vampire captor claiming to be rescuer, Cat soon finds herself becoming enamored of him and then grows resentful of the power he has over her. She can’t help but be drawn to him. His preternatural beauty, strength, and dignified manner intrigues her while his ideas of discipline and conformity make her seethe in anger. When his past invades her dreams she’s given incredibly poignant insights into the man he once was and the Master Vampire he’s become. Befriended by her vampire bodyguard, Winter, Cat must come to terms with being among otherworldly creatures and must forge an understanding of what is and what is not allowed in their realm. Discovering that her death is part of the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy and that her Life’s Blood is the cure to his vampirism, Cat realizes that Sin’s motives for saving her are neither heroic nor altruistic. But unable to resist, she sets out to devise a way to help him without forfeiting her life.
