For example, you can tell your children that if they disobey their parents or teachers, they can be in trouble. They can get punished and humiliated in front of their peers. Then again, you should not forget to teach your children how to differentiate reasonable obedience and gullibility. They should know when to say ‘no’. For instance, if someone tells them to perform an unlawful act, such as stealing or destroying public property, they should know how to disobey. If an older person asks them to lie for them, they should know how to say ‘no’. Being obedient involves knowing the difference between right and wrong. Before they agree to do something, they should know first whether it is right or wrong to do so.
