“Let me be plain, Angela,” he said softly. “You’re a beautiful young woman. From what you’ve said, there’s no reason you should be having these sexual problems. Therefore, I can only think of one conclusion to draw from this.”
Did he just say she was beautiful? Angela never really thought of herself that way, but she supposed she wasn’t unattractive. She had nice, long blonde hair, at least, and she jogged three times a week. Dr. Redwood might have just being trying to be kind, but she didn’t think so. He sounded sincere, and it spread a warmth through Angela’s body to know it was his honest appraisal. Even if it might not have been entirely professional.
“What’s your conclusion?” Angela finally asked, blinking up at him.
She felt one of his gentle and soft hands slide along her arm, then squeeze her shoulder. Dr. Redwood said, “Well, you see, Angela, I feel that the obvious problem is not with you, but with those men who obviously failed to serve as adequate lovers. It might sound unorthodox, but I feel that it’s my duty as a psychiatrist to resolve this.”
Angela shuddered as he touched her, sighed softly as he squeezed her shoulder. She felt things that she had never felt before. Was he right? Was it wasn’t a problem with her at all, but with the clumsy, feeble touch of those who tried to please her before? It sounded so logical when the doctor said it, and she had to admit that his touch felt... good. Is that what she was feeling? Pleasure, at last?
“Dr. Redwood,” Angela said, weakly objecting. “Is this really appropriate? I mean...”
His fingers reached up to brush her lips, and he chuckled softly, “Shh. I’m the doctor here. I know exactly what you need. Just lie back, and let me take care of you. I promise that you’ll feel better in no time.”
Angela’s breath quickened. Was this really happening? She couldn’t believe it, but it felt real. His hand left her for just a second, but then she felt him down below, at her feet, softly sliding her shoes away. For a moment, just a moment, she thought about telling him no, of leaving out the door and never coming back. But this was the first time she had ever felt something like this before. There’s no way she was going to leave now.
“I don’t know,” she said gently, though, still worried, “Are you sure, doctor?”
“Oh, I’m certain, Angela,” he replied, assuaging her. “Completely.”
